Changó Literary Magazine Call for Submissions

We are looking for submissions from unpublished Black, Hispanic, Asian, .Middle Eastern American Indian, Aboriginal or Pacific Islander writers.Unpublished meaning that your creative work has not been published in a publication with a circulation of over 30,000.

We are looking for:

 Stories 2,500 – 3,000 words in length. 

 Stories of any genre are welcomed .

 One act plays 6000-10,000 words in length.

 Interviews of interesting or important  Black, Hispanic, Asian, .Middle Eastern, American Indian, Aboriginal or Pacific Islander artists. Artist can be those who work in any medium. They can be unknown, obscure or up and coming but they must have an interesting story to tell. 1,500 - 2000 words in length. Supply at least two interesting pictures of subject.

 Flash fiction 300-600 words.

 All creative material must have an optimistic, triumphant, heroic tone. This is not a place for dystopian or depressing submissions. 

 The main character has to be Black, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern  American Indian, Aboriginal  or Pacific Islander .  

 No simultaneous submissions please.  

 A limit of two submissions per author.

 All entries must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person's ideas, without written permission or proper acknowledgment will be disregarded.

 Entries must be unpublished pieces

 Each entry must have a cover page with the title of the work, the author's name, full mailing address, telephone number and email address. Every subsequent page must carry the title and a page number and the author's name.

 Authors will be individually notified of the results by email on or before July 30th 2013. If you do not hear from us by this date assume that your piece was not selected. 

 All entries must be double spaced, with numbered pages in one of the following formats. All other formats will be disqualified.

• Word Perfect
• Open Office
• Microsoft Works

Compensation: 

• Flash Fiction: $5.00 for first electronic rights
• Short Stories: $20.00 for first  electronic rights
• One Act Plays: $30.00 for first  electronic rights
• Interviews: $50.00 for first  electronic rights
• A free copy of publication
